Operating contract
NX is the local enterprise-x86 monitoring product for Ethernet-native systems. It runs as the site monitoring authority in Field + local NX and NX Local Only deployments — historian, alarm engine, dependency model and operator interfaces inside the customer trust boundary — and can optionally federate selected state to NX-Cloud as a secondary view. It is not required to aggregate Field, and it is not the only place site authority can live. Identity, time, quality, authority and evidence travel with every value this component handles, so the behavior stays predictable across the estate.

- NX is the local monitoring authority in Field + local NX and NX Local Only deployments; it is not the only place site authority can live — hosted authority is provided by NX-Cloud.
- NX may aggregate a connected Field acquisition package, but Field can also operate as a complete local product or a connected Edge for NX-Cloud without local NX.
- NX enforces, but does not unilaterally define, the authority matrix governing read and command rights.
